The most winning sport judo in the “Sportsman of the Year” award – El Sol de Parral

After 28 contests held for the “Sportsman of the Year” award, the highest recognition given in the city, judo is the most successful discipline with a total of 12 distinctions and 42.85 percent, also being the only sport that he has won for five consecutive years from 2000 to 2004.

As every year since 1992 and suspended in 2020 due to the pandemic, the “Sportsman of the Year” contest is held in the town, to recognize the achievements made by Parralenses athletes throughout the year and that this 2021, will be its 30th winner, already that in 2011 three athletes were recognized.

It is worth mentioning that the first discipline to win the award was basketball, in addition to sports such as judo, baseball, boxing, karate, cycling, volleyball, powerlifting and wushu kun fu.

The list of the most winning sport is headed by judo with a total of 12 awards, for 42.85 percent, followed by baseball with six and 21.71 percent, boxing with three and 10.71 percent, basketball, cycling and karate. with two and 7.14%, while volleyball, powerlifting and wushu kun fu with one and 3.57%.

Among the judo athletes who have been winners are Fernando León in 1993, Luis Delgado 1998, Eduardo Luján 2000, Vanessa Zambotti 2001, Ramón Rodríguez 2002, Ricardo Samaniego 2003, Estefanía Arras 2004, Nidia Cordero Chávez 2006, Jesús Chaparro 2009, Jesús Emeterio Aguirre 2010, Javier Caballero 2011 and Jesús Gibran Torres 2017.

On the other hand, from baseball they have won it, Mario Alberto López 1994, Ramón Talamantes 1996, Humberto Gutiérrez 2005, Carlos Hiram Muñoz, Mario Rodríguez 2008 and Eduardo Aguirre 2016; in boxing, Jorge Córdova in 2011, Misael Rodríguez 2014 and Jacobo Guerra 2018; in basketball, Karla María Chaires 1992 and Manuel Prieto 1995; in karate, Iris Yamel Escápita 1999 and Arturo Minjarez 2011 and in cycling, Mario Armendáriz 2013 and Ricardo Gutiérrez 2015.

In volleyball, Juan Lazos Núñez 1997; in powerlifting, Haidi Ivette Chaparro Pardo 2012 and in wusu kun fu, Samael Carrasco 2019.
