The sound volume had disturbed more than one local resident on New Year’s Eve. During a good part of the night, the village of Ayguemorte-les-Graves (Gironde) had vibrated to the rhythm of the music mixed by a DJ in a detached house. Called in, the gendarmes came to put an end to the noise.
A private but clandestine party was indeed organized and brought together a hundred people, of which a police investigation will tell if they had in addition had to pay entry to this reconstituted nightclub. As in a nightclub, the music was blaring, alcohol was part of the party, security guards were watching at the entrance, a DJ was at work and… A fight took place outside.
Attempted murder
Several people were injured in a brawl of reciprocal violence which pitted, perhaps because of a gaze focused on a young girl, two groups from different districts of the right bank of Bordeaux, participating in the evening. Weapons were used and then thrown around when the gendarmes arrived, like a baseball bat found in a garden. Or a knife.
A 20-year-old boy was seriously injured with a stab in the region of the heart. He was taken to the emergency room at Pellegrin hospital where he underwent surgery. Did he intervene to end the fight? Is he one of the protagonists of the scuffle? Investigators from the Mérignac research brigade were in charge of the investigation.
Faced with a not very talkative victim on his hospital bed, the sleuths of the BR de Mérignac carried out cross-checks, technical investigations and neighborhood investigations which enabled them to identify the alleged perpetrator of the stabbing. It was still necessary to locate it.
The young man, who seemed to be hiding from both the gendarmes and the victim’s friends, was arrested Thursday morning and taken into police custody. Presented to the prosecution on Friday, he was indicted for attempted murder and imprisoned in accordance with the requisitions.
