MADRID, 1 (EUROPA PRESS)

The Spanish team in the ATP Cup debuted this Saturday with a 3-0 win over Chile in Group A, thanks to the victories of Pablo Carreño, Roberto Bautista and the doubles formed by Alejandro Davidovich and Pedro Martínez.

The tie in Sydney was sentenced by Bautista with his solid triumph over Cristian Garín. The young Chilean could not do anything against the Castellón (6-0, 6-2), who put the final 2-0 for Spain to take the first step through the semifinals.

Carreño was in charge of opening the tournament for the ‘Armada’ and suffered to add his point to Alejandro Tabilo (6-4, 7-6 (4). The Asturian had to turn a ‘break’ down twice in the first set and in the second he was also in tow to achieve a great victory in sudden death.

After Bautista’s sentence, Davidovich and Martínez finished off the full Spanish against Marcelo Barrios and Tabilo by 7-6 (3), 4-6, 10-7. Spain will face Norway this Sunday and will close the group stage against Serbia, with which a priori will play the first place and the pass to the semifinals.
