Jumbo-Visma had to stop its team internship yesterday after a positive case, at AG2R-Citroën 4 employees were sent home.
The teams in Altea are not immune from the virus either. Various teams will stay in hotel Cap Negret with Bahrain-Victorious, Arkea-Samsic, Bingoal Pauwels Sauces WB and Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise. Other guests also stay at the hotel.
All teams have corona infections, but the internship continues, including Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise, where 6 positive cases were detected.
“It was a bit of a shock,” said sports director Hans De Clercq. “We did a preventive test on Wednesday evening and one rider turned out to be positive, after which we tested everyone.”
“In the end there were 6 positive cases. The people in question were immediately isolated last night. They were given food in their room.”
Thursday morning they left for home in a van. The measures for the remaining riders and staff members are now being tightened up at the team.
