Plzeň, who started without an injured Swedish striker Blomstrand, could open the score in the 3rd minute, but Marcel hit the left post from the backhand with a backhand. Shortly after returning from the penalty bench, Mertl passed the defending Jergl and leveled the bluff into the forehand. In the middle of the match, he was able to return the lead to the renumbering Orsava. Lukeš liquidated Mertl’s chance while punishing the East Bohemian captain Smoleňák. From the pressure, Thorell got the puck into the goal after the end of the power play, but the goal did not pay due to Bulíř’s hand pass.
In the 38th minute, Lev’s puck picked up Kvasnička’s goal, who handed it to the free Jergl, who sent it to the left post after a forehand bluff. Miškář and Oksanen had another chance for the East Bohemians, but Svoboda kept only one goal difference.
Pilsen’s exclusion at the end of the second period did not help to compensate for the exclusion of Kevin Klíma or another power play after Pavlík’s foul, when Mertl had the opportunity again. On the other hand, Oksanen failed to flow in front of the goal. Schleiss Musila unleashed a swerving effort from the right that the visitors’ keeper did well to tip wide. In the final power play, the guests defended the lead and Oksanen did not hit an empty Pilsen goal up close a second before the end.
