Within the framework of the first day of international signings of 2022 in the MLB, the New York Mets gave an important sign of their ambition by finalizing the signing of 21 prospects among them, the outfielder Juan Simón who is listed as number 16 according to Baseball America magazine.

Juan Simón, who is considered a five-tool player, he signed for a $1.9 million bonus, making it the most expensive signing the Mets made to this day.

After the signings were announced, the vice president of amateur and international scouting, Tommy Tanous, dedicated a few words to the new players in the organization. “It’s an exciting day for the New York Mets congratulate and welcome these talented youngsters to our organization,” he said.

“This is the first step in making his dreams of becoming a Major League Baseball come true.. I want to thank everyone, from the player family to our amazing scouting staff, for their hard work in this process.”

For his part, the general manager of the Mets, Billy Eppler, highlighted the importance of this day and said he was excited and anxious for these players to reach the Major Leagues. “Today is another step to establish and achieve sustained success” (…). “We are excited for these players to begin their journey to Queens. We also want to thank Tommy, Steve Barningham and our entire international scouting department, as well as everyone in the baseball operations department who worked tirelessly to make this day possible.”
