LSBL wins new supporter and will be called “Pullman Women’s Basketball League”

The hotel “Pullman Riga Old Town” has become a supporter of the Latvian Women’s Basketball League (LSBL), it was announced at a press conference on Monday.

The cooperation is concluded until the end of the 2023 season.

The elite group tournament of the Baltic Women’s Basketball League (BSBL) will take place in cooperation with “Pullman Riga Old Town”, but the official name of the LSBL tournament will be “Pullman” Women’s Basketball League.

The hotel will be involved in the promotion and marketing of the tournament, but its logo will be integrated into the existing women’s basketball league logo.

“The second year of looking for ways to fight and protect against the virus is coming to an end, but companies, sports, including basketball, must also find ways to move forward and develop,” said the president of the Latvian Basketball Union (LBS). Raimonds Vējonis. “Ways are being sought to survive in the sport, so we can only thank the Pullman Hotel for finding a way to cooperate and support Latvian basketball.”

Vējonis also pointed out that not only Latvian women’s basketball, but also the “Pullman” hotel will benefit from this cooperation.

On the other hand, about the current situation, Vējonis said that the main thing is not to stop the tournament, as had happened before. “Of course, now some teams in both the men’s and women’s leagues have to cancel due to the virus, but there are no plans to stop the tournaments. It may happen that the last games and finals will be played a little later than originally planned, but they will definitely be completed, ”revealed Vējonis.

Valdis Vanadziņš, the manager of the Pullman Riga Old Town Hotel, believes that it is natural for the hotel to become a sponsor of the LSBL. “The Pullman brand is also known all over the world for supporting a healthy lifestyle, and I am definitely honored to have the opportunity to support and promote the entire league, not just one team,” said Vanadziņš.
