The table in Sydney was revealed early in the morning and it was the Australian Alja Tomljanovic who took the place of the Laval. She will face a player from qualifying in the first round.
Fernandez got off to a good start in 2022, beating Russia’s Ekaterina Alexandrova in two sets in the first round of the Adelaide tournament on Monday. However, she came up against Poland’s Iga Swiatek in the next round, who beat her drastically 6-1 and 6-2.
The Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the season, kicks off on January 17.
