La Barre-en-Ouche. A new dojo for judo

The gleaming educational campus of Mesnil-en-Ouche (Eure) having opened its doors at the start of the 2021 school year has nevertheless abandoned the annex buildings where, a few years ago, the former school of the municipality of La-Barre-en-Ouche (Eure). From January 12 and every Wednesday evening, fans and curious, young and old alike, will be able to wear their most beautiful kimonos and participate in the training sessions of the Beaumont sports club (CSB) of judo. The latter has just installed a dojo de 50 m2 in one of the old classrooms. On Wednesday January 5, open houses were organized. On this occasion, we were able to meet the club president, Pierre Lambert, but also the two teachers Aymerick Corbel and Sarah Megzari.

Reinvest the old school

It is 5:30 p.m. when the first children start to invest in the new dojo, room initially reserved for Buddhist meditation and then for the practice of martial arts, in La-Barre-en-Ouche. On the tatami, Sarah Megzari, apprentice judo teacher at the Beaumont Sports Club, teaches them some techniques of this ancestral martial art.

From January 12, the inhabitants of the new commune will be able to come and take advantage of this new facility having seen the light of day under the leadership of the CSB team.

This is how the club was able reinvest the old school and set up its courses. “We offer judo from 4 or 5 years old. Then we have a group for children aged 6 to 9. Afterwards, there is no age limit, I am over 70 years old, and I still practice ”, continues the president, laughing.

But the team also offers training sessions taïso from 12 years old. Initially dedicated to judokas returning from injuries, the taïso is a Japanese method of fitness of the body, allowing muscle strengthening, to relax but also to gain flexibility. A discipline that has won over many followers. “It appeals to the female audience a lot. We were able to reach a wider audience through these sessions but also by establishing ourselves in different sectors. “

Counter the health crisis

These disciplines, the Beaumontais club also offer them in Beaumont, or Barquet. Since 40 years, he managed to retain dozens of members. Composed of a president, a secretary, a treasurer and two coaches, it can also count on the constant support of its volunteers.

Despite the health crisis, 85 faithful are still present for this new year. Work and motivation club members are also no strangers to it.

One of the first clubs in Normandy to have reopened its doors after coming out of confinement, the CSB also knew adapter its activities to the protocol in force.

Aymerick, club trainer, black belt and 3rd dan – grade of progression in the discipline – would like to recall the many benefits of the practice of judo. “It’s a physically complete sport, which also incorporates a moral code.
