VILLANOVA D’ALBENGA- A new Athletics club has arrived at the starting line for the 2022 season. It is the newly formed ASD Atletica Val Lerrone, affiliated with Fidal and CSI, which has its registered office in Casanova Lerrone. The executives also announced that the introductory courses to competitive sport are open on the Villanova d’Albenga track and on the Casanova Lerrone sports field.
The team has already made its debut at the “CorriCelle” obtaining a gold, a silver and two bronzes.
“Our company – explains the president Andrea Verna – was born with the aim of creating a representative office in the hinterland, which could offer the possibility of playing sports to children, teenagers and adults of the municipalities, villages and hamlets of Villanova d ‘ Albenga, Garlenda and Casanova and to all those who want to try their hand at athletics wherever they reside “.
The team made its debut by winning first place in Celle Ligure with Elena Cusato (cat. Allieve), a second with Adele Nattero (Allieve) on 4km, and two third places with Nicolò Parodi (Allievi) on 4 km and with Emma Baradel (cat . Cadette) about 2 km. Also noteworthy is the second place of Marina Bonora in the 55/59 master category.
The new sports club is chaired by Andrea Verna, municipal councilor of Casanova Lerrone, Fidal technician, who in the past had already successfully led a club in Acqui Terme.
The boys are coached by Adina Navradi, Fidal technician, who in Romania has won 13 national athletics titles, graduated in Motor Sciences and was a teacher.
The other founding members are Adriano Cusato, vice president, the secretary Igor Reghin and the directors Elisabeta Adina Navradi, Nicolò Reghin, Angelo Parodi, Monica Napoletano. Social doctor is Dr. Lisa Lanteri.
The team has started courses for children aged 5 and over in all categories in Casanova Lerrone and Villanova d’Albenga.
“Atletica Val Lerrone is a project that we had in the drawer for some time – continues Verna – and which found fulfillment on the impulse of the parents of the athletes I successfully trained with my wife Adina and who now play in our ranks together with others who they have already trusted us. We have already started regular training in Casanova Lerrone and on the Athletics track of Villanova d’Albenga, municipalities that we thank for the support given to the project together with that of Garlenda who presented us with its sports facilities, with which we have found equal harmony to realize future projects. Among the objectives of 2022, we have the organization of two cross country races, one in Casanova Lerrone and the other in Garlenda ”.
But the new sports club does not only have competitive objectives: “We would like to enhance – concludes Verna – also the beauty of our territory: with the older athletes we do specific training, on the trails at the weekend. We also organize one-week summer gatherings dedicated to the preparation of competitions, using local accommodation facilities and also bringing together athletes who come from outside the region ”. Athletics therefore as a driving force for tourism.
