He’s the first to dare!
Ex-Bayern professional Thomas Helmer (56) made fun of the yellow-green away jerseys of the record champions from the nineties on Instagram.
Helmer: “Nobody on my team liked this canary jersey. Our team also survived this idiosyncratic color combination and became German champions in 1993/1994. Everyone was happy when the jersey got dusty after only 2 seasons. “
The outfit was Bayern’s away jersey in the 1993/94 and 1994/95 seasons. It was still in the Munich repertoire in 1995/96, but was not used as a third jersey.
That’s one of the reasons why it’s almost cool from today’s perspective, despite the team’s rejection! Helmer: “Today I see it more relaxed – it even has almost” Ugly “cult potential.”
And it didn’t hurt Bayern’s success either: the team became German champions in 1994 despite the hated jerseys.
