After several visits by some of the members to the United States to see family, big fans of baseball, they decided to import it to La Rochelle. First of all by playing in parks to attract people and by posting announcements on signs. The club was then called West Cubs which later became Ocean Cubs and finally adopted the name Boucaniers in reference to piracy and the ocean which borders the coasts of the La Rochelle city.

Gradually, they began to play on sports fields, because playing baseball in parks could quickly become risky. Later, after administrative requests, the club can play on a field dedicated to baseball on which numerous facilities are set up, to accommodate the players in the best conditions. The club continues to grow and today it has more than 160 members and around fifty dedicated volunteers, with the ambition to continue to improve the infrastructure.
