Barca will still have to wait for his game to appear after signing Ferran Torres. Will Ousmane Dembele tip the scales?

FC Barcelona are still waiting to register new signing Ferran Torres for LaLiga. This may also require a contract extension from offensive player Ousmane Dembele, as coach Xavi has now announced.

“We will see how the salary cap situation is and whether it is possible immediately,” said the football coach. “If Dembele can extend his stay with us and we can lower his salary, we can register Torres. We hope it works.”

Although the Catalans have a horrific mountain of debt of around one billion euros, Torres was committed to Manchester City during the winter break for a sum of 55 million euros. A feasible deal thanks to a sophisticated financing plan.

Does Dembele have to extend for Ferran Torres at Barca?

Since Barca are already exceeding their salary payments according to the Spanish transfer regulations, Torres may not initially be registered. In general, salaries are the giant club’s big problem. After the club pays more than allowed, it is only allowed to spend a quarter of its income.

In order to reduce costs, an extension of Dembele and a related salary reduction would be urgently needed. In order to generate additional income and save salary costs, players like Philippe Coutinho, Samuel Umtiti and replacement keeper Neto are considered sales candidates.
