Bonner, who signed the contract that tied him to orange-dark blue colors in Çukurova Basketball, which aims to win the FIBA Women’s European Cup (EuroCup Women), Herbalife Nutrition Women’s Basketball Super League and Turkish Cup, came to the city, toured the facilities and had his first training session with his team. Bonner, who has won two WNBA titles, said he is happy to be a part of a professional club.
Stating that there are important and talented stars in the team, Bonner said, “We will work together with our experienced technical team and my friends to reach our goal of 3 trophies. We will bring the trophies to Mersin by continuing to be a whole with our magnificent fans.”
WHO IS BONNER?
Born in 1987 in Alabama, USA, 1.93 meters tall Bonner plays in the small forward position. After his successful seasons in college with the Auburn Tigers, Bonner, who was selected from the fifth place in the first round by Phoenix Mercury in the 2009 WNBA Draft, spent 10 seasons in the WNBA with the Phoenix Mercury jersey and experienced the joy of champion with his team in the 2009-2014 seasons.
Transferred to Connecticut Sun via trade before the 2020 WNBA season, Bonner started to play for the North Macedonia women’s national basketball team after he was granted Macedonian citizenship in 2018. The star player managed to take part in the WNBA All-Star 4 times.
