Adra has been the scene this weekend of the Christmas badminton tournament ‘Ciudad de Adra’, a competition organized by the Alboran Badminton Club and that has counted as every year with the collaboration of the City Council. The event has taken place in the Municipal Sports Pavilion under a strict security protocol. Thus, the city has been the epicenter of grassroots badminton, a modality that has been progressively gaining prominence in Abderitano sport and is already one more alternative within the wide offer that the municipality has.
Fifty athletes have participated in the tournament from the under-15 to absolute category, and it has welcomed players from Adra, Vícar, Berja and Armilla (Granada). The Abderitanos Juan Antonio Fernández and Joaquín Zúñiga have won the gold and silver medals, respectively, in the category ‘Absolute Individual A’ and Aitor Fernández and Antonio Martín, have climbed to the top of the drawer in ‘Absolute Doubles A’ . The councilors of Sports and Finance, Pedro Peña and Alicia Heras, have closely followed the championship and have presented the trophies to the winners.
