He is currently injured, but NBA star LeBron James is still making history in the best basketball league in the world.

This is historical! Superstar LeBron James (37) from the Los Angeles Lakers was called up again for the all-star game of the North American professional league NBA on January 28, 2022 and has thus reached a special mark.

LeBron drew level with legend Kobe Bryant, who died two years ago, with 18 nominations for the traditional selection game between the Western and Eastern Conference. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar remains at the top with 19 nominations.

Lakers legend Bryant died in a helicopter crash at the age of 41. He died in the accident along with his second daughter Gianna. Six other occupants and the pilot also did not survive the crash.

LeBron James at the All-Star Game Captain

James will be the West selection NBA, which also includes Stephen Curry from the Golden State Warriors, also lead the field as captain due to the majority of fan votes. His Eastern counterpart is superstar Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets. The All-Star Game will take place in Cleveland on February 20, 2022, German professionals will not be there.

Meanwhile, the Lakers, without currently injured superstar LeBron James, suffered an 87-105 loss at the Philadelphia 76ers and remain mid-table in the league with 24 wins and 25 losses. James had to sit out at short notice with a knee injury.

In James’ absence, Anthony Davis towered over the Lakers with 31 points and 12 rebounds, while Russell Westbrook also contributed 20 points. But this was not enough to win. The best player on the 76ers side was center Joel Embiid with 26 points.

The Golden State Warriors, meanwhile, cemented their role as title contenders. Led by superstar Stephen Curry, the San Francisco team defeated the Minnesota Timbervolves 124-115. Curry had 29 points and also had eight rebounds and six assists. Karl-Anthony Towns presented themselves even stronger at the Timberwolves Center. But even his double-double with 31 points and twelve rebounds could not prevent the defeat. (ubo/dpa)
