Christian Eriksen on heart drama at EM 2021: “I was dead for 5 minutes” – football

It was the worst scenes at the EM 2021. Christian Eriksen (29) suffered a cardiac arrest on June 11th in Copenhagen in the EM game against Finland (0: 1).

Now the Denmark star speaks on the Danish TV channel “DR” – and publishes a version translated into English via Instagram.

This is what happened to Eriksen after his heart attack!

Eriksen explains: “In the hospital they kept telling me that I was getting more and more flowers. That was weird because I didn’t expect people to send me flowers because I was dead for five minutes. “

He also has an emotional message for all of his supporters: “I would like to thank all the fans who have sent me thousands of letters, emails and flowers that have come to me on the streets in Italy and Denmark for the support I have from all over the world. That helped me a lot to get through it. It touched so many people – and they wanted to show my family and me that. That makes me happy.”

Eriksen is now fit again and is looking for a new club. He is sure that his comeback could work: “Because I don’t feel any different. Physically I’m in top form again. ”

In December he agreed to terminate his contract with Inter because the Italian rules prohibit players with a defibrillator from participating. As a result of the arrhythmia that was found, Eriksen was implanted with a similar one.

In some countries it is legal to play with a defibrillator. According to a report by the Daily Mail, several Premier League clubs are said to be interested in the playmaker, including ex-club Tottenham Hotspur with ex-Eriksen coach Antonio Conte (52, from 2019 to 2021 at Inter).

The Dane speaks of a great wish: “My goal is to be at the World Cup in Qatar. I want to play. It’s a goal, a dream. Whether I will then be nominated is another matter. But it’s my dream to come back. “

It is to be hoped that Eriksen will soon be back on the pitch safe and sound.
