More than 30 years later, the Caribbean Series will return to the city of Miami. It will be in 2024, the president of the Caribbean Baseball Confederation, Juan Francisco Puello Herrera, informed Diario Libre.
“It’s a fact, the Caribbean Series returns to Miami,” said Puello Herrera.
The City of the Sun hosted the regional contest in 1990 (at the Orange Bowl stadium with the Chosen as champion) and 1991 (at the Bobby Maduro with the Licey as monarch).
For 2024, the event will take place at LoanDepot Park, home of the Marlins, as established in the agreement closed this Friday between the organizers and the Major League team.
This year’s version will take place at the renovated Quisqueya Juan Marichal stadium from January 28 to February 3. The one in 2023 will be in the Venezuelan capital, a venue that will be defined between Caracas and La Guaira. The contest has not been held on Bolivarian soil since 2014 when Isla Margarita hosted it.
After Miami in 2024, the tournament will go to Mexicali, Mexico, in 2025, in 2026 in Puerto Rico and in 2027 in Hermosillo, Mexico.
The champions of the winter leagues from Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Colombia, Panama and the Dominican Republic will participate in the tournament.
