Four Bayern Munich players have tested positive for the coronavirus, including captain and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. The German top club will resume training after the winter break a day later than planned in order to be able to test all players and staff members.

The Bundesliga leader announced the news tonight. Normally the first training of the new year would take place tomorrow/Sunday. “But following the changes in testing and hygiene measures, all players and staff members will have a PCR test taken on Monday morning,” the club’s website said.

Four players will not be there on Monday. Neuer tested positive after a holiday in the Maldives. Kingsley Coman and Corentin Tolisso also delivered a positive corona test after their stays in Dubai and France respectively. Omar Richards also turned out to be infected.

The four players “are doing well”. Just like assistant Dino Toppmöller, also positive.

Bayern lead the Bundesliga, nine points ahead of Borussia Dortmund. Next Friday, coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team will play host to Borussia Mönchengladbach.
