Toronto Blue Jays Fall 6-1 to Kansas City Royals: Series Loss at Rogers Centre

The Toronto Blue Jays fell 6 to 1 against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday afternoon at the Rogers Centre.

Due to this setback, the only Canadian team in major baseball lost its three-game series against the Missouri club. The Jays had experienced the joy of victory in the first game, but suffered defeat in the next two.

In today’s clash, the sixth round was fateful for the crowd favorites. The Royals opened the scoring thanks to a single from Bobby Witt Jr. which allowed Kyle Isbel to complete a lap.

Salvador Perez and Michael Massey also produced points and the visitors built a 3-0 lead.

One engagement later, Danny Jansen hit a solo home run. His cannon shot was the only moment of celebration for the Blue Jays.

The score was completed by Murray in the eighth inning. The Royals second baseman threw the ball out of bounds while his teammates Witt Jr. and Vinnie Pasquantino were already occupying the paths.

The loss was suffered by starter Chris Bassitt (2-5), who allowed three earned runs on four safe hits in six innings of work. Seth Lugo (5-1) got the win by allowing just one run and two hits in seven innings on the mound. He also got eight Blue Jays players in the mitt.

The Queen City team will return to action on Friday, in the first of three games against the Washington Nationals. This series will be presented at Nationals Park.
