Batshuayi wins Turkish Supercup with Besiktas after penalty shootout | Foreign football

Michy Batshuayi may put a trophy in his trophy cabinet. Or at least in his club. The Red Devil won the Supercup with Besiktas last night. It did require a penalty shootout and Batshuayi also contributed. It is his first prize in Turkey.

Besiktas won the double, cup and title last season, before taking on losing cup finalist Antalyaspor in the Supercup.

Batshuayi’s team took the lead after a goal by Hutchinson, but strikingly the Canadian also scored an own goal after the break and tied the plates: 1-1.

The match turned out to be a penalty shootout. At Antalyaspor, our compatriot Ruud Boffin stood between the posts. But he couldn’t stop a single eleven, not even Batshuayi’s.

Besiktas made it 4-2. It is the 10th time that the club has won the Supercup, but for Batshuayi it is the first prize in Turkey. He has only been playing there since this summer.
