Velo’s badminton players drew a draw against Drop Shot from The Hague last night in the championship group of the Eredivisie.
The Wateringers started well at home and led 3-1 halfway through. Only the women’s doubles Myke Halkema/Milou Lugters had lost at that time. The men’s doubles of Jim Middelburg and Russell Muns and the men’s singles of Nick Fransman did end in a victory and Hanna Couwenhoven also achieved a – perhaps unexpected – victory in three games.
In the remainder of the match, only the mixed doubles were won against Halkema and Middelburg. The other parties ended in defeat. So the final score is 4-4.
Drop Shot was the favorite on the basis of the regular competition, so the draw can be called creditable. Velo will play the second game of this weekend against DKC from Wateringse Veld this afternoon.
