Alejandra Valencia is sixth in the world ranking of archery – El Sol de Hermosillo

The Sonoran archer, Alejandra Valencia, began her year in sixth place in the world ranking of women’s recurve bow, continuing as the best Mexican and second in the entire American continent in this modality.

The three-time Olympian and medalist in the past Tokyo 2020 games, where she won bronze for a mixed team, started 2022 with 198.20 points, beating her teammates (recurve bow) Ana Vázquez (133.85) and Aída Román (121.60) , who hold positions 18 and 24, respectively.

For her part, South Korea’s An San tops the list with 251 units, followed by Deepika Kumari (244.10), with Russian Elena Osipova (242.50) completing the podium. In fourth place is the French Lisa Barbelin (239.50) and in fifth the American Mackenzie Brown (199.95).

Valencia Trujillo approached its best place in the world ranking, since in August 2017 it was placed in third place according to the classification of the World Archery (International Archery Federation).

While, in the women’s compound modality, Alejandra’s sister, Margarita Valencia, was placed in 56th position on the list with 43,600 points, Andrea Becerra being the leader of the Aztecs in the 6th world place (137.5), while Colombian Sara López (262) tops the list.
