After the draw with Juve, Milan is now obliged to beat Inter

AC Milan’s squad was warned after a 0-0 draw with Juventus. Milan must beat Inter Milan to continue in the title race.

Last night’s draw at the San Siro made Rossoneri slipped to third place in the Italian League standings. Milan have 49 points in 23 games, level with Napoli at the top and four points adrift of Inter at the top who have a game in hand.

European leagues will be taking a short break due to the international break. After that Milan will face a super important match against Nerazzurri at the Giuseppe Meazza on 6 February.

Milan coach Stefano Pioli is well aware of how important it is Derby della Madonnina. Milan must win it in order to avoid risks like the 2020/2021 season, where they were knocked out of the top four before finally finishing runners-up.

“We already know the games against Juventus and Inter will have a big impact on our future,” Pioli told DAZN, quoted Football-Italia.

“If we don’t beat Inter, then our season will be very similar to last season when we finished second and risked losing our place in the Champions League.”

“We have a way of playing and have to realize that if we want to achieve something extraordinary again, we have to give everything. I saw a lot of individual performances of a very high level today,” Pioli added.

The draw against Juventus marked the failure of Milan to rise after being defeated by Spezia. Pioli said Milan were less efficient in the final third.

“We put in the right performance for our situation and the opponent, but we lacked precision in the box. The conditions on the pitch didn’t help either because we had bad first touches, had to take extra touches to control the ball and that slowed us down.” Pioli after AC Milan drew with Juventus.
