3rd division: sorted out! Shock for ex-RWE captain

That was a bitter end to the year for the Kehl-Gomez family. Papa Marco was told by Türkgücü Munich that the rest of the season was being planned without him.

In summer 2021 is Marco Kehl-Gomez moved to the third division Türkgücü Munich as captain of Rot-Weiss Essen. “KG”, as he was called in Essen, made no big secret of why he was swapping the Ruhr area for the Bavarian capital: he wanted to fulfill his dream of the 3rd division, which collapsed with RWE.

Once in Munich, things went well for the 29-year-old father of two. Until an injury to the fibula and later a positive corona result, the central midfielder was always a regular – regardless of whether the coach was called Petr Ruman or Peter Hyballa. Now the shock followed!

Graduated for Rot-Weiss Essen Marco-Kehl Gomez 74 competitive games between 2019 and 2021, scored ten goals and prepared eleven more goals. In his career he was also active for clubs such as 1. FC Saarbrücken, SV Elversberg and Chemnitzer FC.

Munich instead of Belek: five Türkgücü players stay at home

As RevierSport found out, the family man was informed on December 28, 2021 that he would no longer play a role in the plans of what is now the third Türkgücü coach, Andreas Heraf, for the 2021/2022 season. In addition to Furkan Zorba, Yomi Scintu and Luis Jakobi, Kehl-Gomez, who has made 15 competitive appearances in the current series, was also not allowed to travel to the training camp in Turkey (from January 2nd to 11th). In addition, Petar Sliskovic stayed at home because of a positive corona test. The native Swiss did not want to comment on his current situation to RS.

How things will continue for the former Saarbrücken and Essen resident is completely open. The fact is that Kehl-Gomez’s contract will expire on June 30, 2022. This would only be extended automatically in the case of a certain number of games. Since the 29-year-old no longer plays a role, this option is no longer realistic. The young Kehl-Gomez family now has until the end of January for the year 2022 to start with a positive new beginning in sport.
