[스포츠조선 최만식 기자] Chungju City Hall dramatically saved hopes for the playoffs in the Badminton Korea League.

Chungju City Hall defeated Yonex by a game score of 3-1 in the men’s general group B 2nd match of the 3rd week of the ‘2022 DB Group Badminton Korea League’ held at the Hwado Sports and Culture Center in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province on the 29th.

With this, Chungju City Hall, which recorded 1 win and 1 loss along with Yonex, maintained third place after Yonex in terms of game gain and loss.

In the Korea League, up to 3rd place in each group is given the right to advance to the semi-final PO. In Group B, strong Samsung Life is currently holding the top spot with two wins in a row.

In Yonex, veteran Lee Yong-dae (34) fought hard, but it was disappointing that it failed to subdue the baseline in the beginning.

Yonex started uneasy. Jin Yong (19), a rookie high school graduate, and Kim Jae-hyeon (23), a rookie college graduate, competed as a singles doubles runner, but lost to Kim Deok-young and Kang Ji-wook at Chungju City Hall 2-1 (11-21, 23-21, 12-21).

In the second singles ceremony that followed, Kim Yong-hyeon (Yonex) lost to Kim Min-ki (Chungju City Hall) 1-2 (21-18, 18-21, 14-21), and the defeat was deep.

However, Lee Yong-dae provided a foothold for a counterattack by winning 2-0 (21-18, 23-21) over Han Toseong and Kang Seong-woo in the 3-doubles paired with rookie Lee Sang-min (23).

However, an unexpected result came out for Yonex in the 4th single. In the match against Park Tae-hoon (Chungju City Hall) of the national team, Jeon Hyuk-jin seemed to have won the match 21-14 in the first set, but gave up both sets 16-21 and swallowed the base.

In Gyeonggi, held on the previous day (28th), Gwangju Bank of Group A of the men’s general division beat Goyang City Hall 3-0 and recorded 1 win and 1 loss. Gwangmyeong City Hall and Gwangju Bank, leading in win-loss tie ratio and difference in gain and loss, decide to advance to the semi-finals in the match on February 4th. Miryang City Hall, the only team in Group A to win two, will play the last match of the group round against Goyang City Hall on February 7.

Women’s Group A, Yeongdong-gun Office, defeated Hwasun-gun Office 3-2, and maintained their first place in the group with two consecutive wins. Hwasun County Office, which recorded 1 win and 1 loss alongside Pocheon City Hall, will compete for 2nd and 3rd place in the face-to-face match on February 8th.
