“With personality and without fear”: Italian media praise Koni De Winter | Champions League

At 19 years and 179 days, Koni De Winter was the youngest Juventus starting player in a Champions League match against Malmö. The Belgian promise international was not impressed by the circumstances and played well for more than 70 minutes.

Two weeks ago he was on right back in his debut against Chelsea, yesterday Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri De Winter posted on the right in his three-man defence. After a system change, he moved again to right back in a four-man defense.

De Winter received a 6.5 from both La Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere della Sera for his performance. “In his European debut as a title holder, he showed personality. He played football forward without fear,” the newspapers write.

“A great debut,” adds the Corriere dello Sport. The Belgian also gets a 6.5 there. “He did his job with precision and received a round of applause for his replacement. Very promising.”

“He was Allegri’s surprise”, it sounds on Tuttomercatoweb (6,5). “Sporting director Pavel Nedved said earlier that De Winter will be very good. He confirmed his qualities against Malmö.”
