Golden State Warriors and fullback Klay Thompson are reportedly targeting a home game in January as their return date, according to Adrian Wojnarowski ofESPN.
The games of January 9 against the Cleveland Cavaliers and January 18 against the Detroit Pistons are thus envisaged. A return to that of January 3 against the Miami Heat is not ruled out, but it is considered less likely.
Thompson hasn’t played since tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in Game 6 of the 2019 final and then his Achilles tendon in November 2020.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has mentioned that there is a possibility that Thompson will be sent with the Warriors G-League affiliate to Santa Cruz in the coming weeks to get back in shape.
In the absence of their maverick, the Warriors are tied for 23-5 atop the NBA with the Phoenix Suns.
