“VEF Rīga” basketball players won the first semifinal game “Užavas” in the Latvian Cup on Monday. “VEF Rīga”, in the role of guests, with a result of 94:59 surpassed “University of Latvia”.
In the winning ranks, Ilya Gromov scored 22 points, won seven rebounds and blocked three opponents, but Devondrik Walker added 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
The most productive player of the University of Latvia was Eduards Avotiņš, who scored 20 points, while Reinis Avotiņš stood out with nine points.
VEF Rīga started its participation in the Latvian Cup from the semi-finals, but the University of Latvia first defeated the “Saldus” basketball players in the quarter-finals in the sum of two games with 171: 130, but defeated “Līvāni” in the quarter-finals with 215: 113.
“Ventspils” and “Liepājas” will meet with “Ogri” or “Valmieras Glass” / “Vidzeme University College” in the second semi-final pair of the winner of the two games.
