Markus Anfang is stepping down as coach of Werder Bremen. The 47-year-old is reacting to the allegations of using a forged vaccination certificate shortly before the home game against FC Schalke 04.
The current status at the DFB: The beginning was asked by the control committee to comment, but so far there is apparently no letter, his lawyers have requested an extension of the deadline. Werder, on the other hand, has already issued a statement. It states, among other things, that the beginning could no longer be tested by the club from a certain point in time.

The investigation at the DFB is now paused until the proceedings of the Bremen authorities have been completed and it is clear whether the beginning has a forged vaccination certificate – which the public prosecutor is convinced of. The DFB control committee then files a criminal complaint, only then does the sports court take action.
The most likely sanction is an occupational ban for a certain period of time. He should then not have an official trainer or functionary position, as was the case, for example, with ex-Duisburg trainer Norbert Meier (63). He was banned for three months in 2005 after a headbutt affair against Albert Streit (41) from Cologne and had to pay a fine of 15,000 euros.
In the beginning, the football teacher license, which he has had since 2013, could probably only be completely withdrawn by the DFB Presidium. The exact responsibility would first have to be clarified, as there has not been a case like this before.

Clemens Fritz (41), head of professional football at Werder, recently said that the ex-coach is “not doing well with the whole thing”. Currently, the Werder bosses, who waived claims for damages when the contract, which ran until 2023, was canceled, no longer have any contact at the beginning.
