The 16 best golfers in Panama will participate in the Tour Championship, which will be played in the match play mode, this weekend at the Santa María Golf Club field and which will define the champion of the season.

In this competition they will see action Omar Tejeira, who has just won the Guatemalan Open and placed among the 100 best players in the fan rankings worldwide; Miguel Ordóñez, with the feat of being among the 32 best golfers in the 40th edition of the US Mid-Amateur, which was played at Sankaty Head Golf Club, in Nantucket, United States and the young promise Lucca González.

The three players agreed that this tournament closes one of the best seasons in this sport, thanks to the support and organization of the members of the Panama Golf Association (APAGOLF), led by Jean Pierre de Roux.

Tejeira, recovered from a back injury and with one of the best performances this year, feels prepared and optimistic to take the beautiful crystal goblet for the winner. “This year I have prepared myself to always be ready to play all the tournaments,” highlighted the representative of Panama in the Latin America Amateur Championship (LACC), which will be held in January in the Dominican Republic.

“This is the last tournament of the year and to get to this competition has not been easy, we have had to make an effort, in such a way that many players from other countries already want to come to play here, because they recognize the technical level and the organization” added Tejeira, who has his mind set on closing the year with a flourish.

Ordóñez, meanwhile, has also had a dream year, with great motivations, such as the birth of his second child, and focused on maintaining the rhythm of the game, without neglecting his family, especially in recent months.

The also representative of Panama in the LAAC has had great duels with Tejeira this year and sees him as one of the favorites to be champion. “This tournament I will play hole by hole, the match play should not analyze the keys, you have to play game by game, with a lot of concentration, because if you lose one, you are out, that simple,” he explained.

Lucca González, is 17 years old and is aware of the challenge she faces. “It is not an easy tournament, you cannot recover if you have a bad round, but I have been giving my best to meet my goals, one of them is to win this event,” he added.

González knows that victory will make it easier for him to play and study at an American university. “I will have zero stress, I will play fluently, without pressure,” said the promise of Panamanian golf, who does well on the Santa María course, due to his strength in hitting the ball.
