The Ibizan Silvia Riera, president of the Balearic Badminton Federation, wields “the good work” that has been developing for some years “with the base” of the Ibizan quarry as a “formula” to obtain these good results and expresses her satisfaction for the achievements obtained in the national U-13 event, where Ibiza once again marked ground.

“The truth is that we have obtained good results and we are all very happy. But this is not a coincidence “, highlights the president of Balearic badminton, before adding:” This shows the great work that we have done, which is a job of many years to achieve this. Our objective is not that there be a result in a certain category or of a specific player, but rather that what we want is that the results and the successes come from below, with players from here from the U-11 to the U-19 » .

The Ibiza delegation also established a new historical milestone for the island’s badminton, by getting to play for the first time in the women’s singles final with two Ibizans fighting for gold and silver. Not surprisingly, the sisters Sofía and María García faced off in Santa Eulària in a beautiful and attractive face to face to win the scepter and the national crown of queen of the sub-13 category.

«Getting there to be an Ibizan final in a women’s singles is something that has never happened before. And it should be emphasized above all, because it is important, that María is still under-13 in her first year ”, highlights Silvia Riera.

Go for the medal award

With such a prize at stake and with the moral reward that also ensures the success of the silver medal in the individual female modality, both sisters did not disappoint and offered an interesting pulse on the track of the Santa Eulalia pavilion, which was decided in the end in favor from Sofía, who won the gold medal against her younger sister on her own merits.

The same players again took center stage in the final rounds and series, since both sisters also played the final of the women’s doubles modality, a match in which they ended up losing in three sets and after which they hung the medal of silver.

«Right now Ibiza badminton is one of the great references at the national level. If you highlight Badminton Ibiza as a club, in terms of results and medals, the difference with the rest of the clubs in Spain throughout the season is abysmal. Regarding statistics, there is no possible comparison with the others “, remarks the Balearic president, who also points out:” Sofía and María have been the most outstanding in this Spanish Championship, but we must also value that most of our players they were freshmen. And yet, two fifths were achieved, one in men’s doubles and one in mixed doubles, indicating that the work with these younger players is good too. And we hope that next year with this generation, who will already be in their second year, they can continue to achieve good results.

Maximum attention in the stands to everything that happens on the track.

Based on the national and international background of the Ibizan quarry, Silvia Riera indicates: “The future of badminton in Ibiza is assured.”

The Ibiza secret to achieve success and be a benchmark

Silvia Riera, as head of the Balearic badminton federation and from Ibiza, does not hide her satisfaction with the progress, always on the rise, shown by the badminton quarry of the Pitiusan island. With pride, Silvia Riera recognizes that other federations throughout Spain ask them about the ‘magic’ formula.

They ask us what we do. And in the end we tell them that it is simply a lot of work and a lot of coordinated people dedicating many hours to it. There is no other secret. The great merit belongs to the children because generations come predisposed to work and make the effort involved in training to obtain those results, “says the president of the Balearic federation, while clarifying:” I think the secret lies in the combination of both. In the work of the coaches and that the players and the parents help to facilitate the work and that they train all that amount of hours.
