The distribution of income from audiovisual rights favors Barcelona: 165 million euros

LaLiga published this Wednesday the criteria for the distribution of audiovisual income, the amounts that correspond to each participating entity and the amounts contributed in compliance with the information obligations provided for in Royal Decree-Law 5/2015, being the FC Barcelona the club with the highest income.

The Catalan box tops the list of TV rights income with 165.6 million euros, little more than the 163 that Real Madrid receives, from the 2020/21 season. Both teams are prominent among LaLiga Santander members, with Atlético de Madrid in third place with 130.1 million.

«The income obtained from the joint exploitation and commercialization of the audiovisual rights of the National League Championship (Santander League and SmartBank League) have been distributed among the clubs and entities participating in First and Second Division A, in accordance with the criteria established in article 5 of the RD “, says LaLiga in its statement.

«The percentages distributed to participants in First and Second based on social implantation have been determined according to the following criteria: one third for the collection in season tickets and average box office of the last five seasons, and the other two thirds for their participation in the generation of resources for the commercialization of television broadcasts, by comparing the average audiences obtained by each of them in each season “, he adds.

In total, LaLiga distributes 1,444.7 million euros for TV rights among First Division teams, while in LaLiga SmartBank, Second Division, the total is 160.5 million, 217 with compensation for the decrease, for a total of 1,661.7.

The employer explains the obligation to allocate 2.5% to a Compensation Fund from which sports entities that descend in category may benefit. The compensation, of 30.5 million, 16.1 and 9.9, was for Espanyol, Leganés and Mallorca, the Second Club clubs that enter the most for these TV rights, in total 40.9, 25.9 and 19, 4 million euros.
