Sierense Aida Nuño achieves a new cyclocross Spanish Cup

The Spanish Cyclocross Cup 2021 this weekend put its final point at the Ermita de la Virgen de Riánsares circuit. After five tests, the Cuenca town of Tarancón has decided the winners of the competition and in the elite sub category 23 female competition was sentenced by the absence of the cyclist from Viella (Siero) Lucía González, who was the only one who could snatch the leadership from Aida Nuño (Siero).

Nuño, who had not added any victory this year in the Spanish Cup, achieved a resounding victory in Tarancón ahead of Sofía Rodríguez and Barbara Borowiecka from Poland. In such a way that the Sierense reigned again in the national competition two years later.

“This year I did not count on fighting again for the Spanish Cup. It is a very nice goal of each season, but this year I did not count on being there,” said the Rio Miera runner. She admitted that the fact of finishing with a victory in the last test “means leaving with a very good taste in my mouth” and more so because of how the test was developed, since “I was able to enjoy the race from the beginning, so I was very happy and proud”. Asked about the possibilities with which she will face the Spanish Championship, Aida Nuño reported that as it is a one-day event, “anything can happen”. “This year I am going day by day, always trying to enjoy myself and I know that the Spanish Championship is a goal for everyone. I will give my best, but without being overwhelmed by the results.”
