Saint-Barthélemy-d’Anjou. The judo club does not know the crisis

For the 2021-2022 season, 143 people have registered with the municipality’s judo club. “This is the best figure for more than ten years”, rejoices Brigitte Mansois, the club secretary. A workforce which increases by almost twenty members compared to the previous season. “The most significant increase is among young people aged 8 and under”, says Brigitte Mansois.

The reasons for the success? First the professor, David Gélineau, “Much appreciated by children and parents”, according to the secretary. But the secret of the club will lie in its dynamism, maintained despite successive confinements: the courses organized by videoconference or outside have met with some success.

And this maintenance of training pays off: two licensees obtained their black belt, the weekend of December 18 and 19. An accomplishment that brings the club’s number of black belts to thirteen. Twelve men and one woman hold it.

In 2022, the club hopes to be able to maintain its interclub tournament and celebrate its fifty years of existence.
