Rodgers Doesn’t Know What the Europa Conference League is

Naples

Leicester City had to be relegated to the Europa Conference League from the Europa League. The irony is that even manager Brendan Rodgers doesn’t know what competition it is.

Leicester, who only needed a draw to qualify, actually lost 2-3 to Napoli at the Estadion Diego Armando Maradona, Friday (10/12/2021) early morning WIB, on the sixth matchday of Group C.

Coming as the leader of the standings, Leicester could only finish third with eight points and had to continue their journey in the Conference League. Spartak Moscow qualified as group winners with 11 points accompanied by Napoli.

This is certainly a disappointment for Leicester who have struggled as hard as possible to survive as the leader of the standings. Inevitably Leicester must continue their journey in Europe’s third caste competition.

The competition where Rodgers as manager of The Foxes doesn’t know what kind of competition they will face. Because, from the start, Leicester’s main priority was to qualify for the last 32 of the Europa League.

So, therefore, Rodgers will first study the Conference League to be better prepared to face his opponent.

“Honestly, I don’t even know what kind of competition it is,” Brendan Rodgers was quoted as saying BT Sport.

“If I can tell you the truth, I’m actually focused on the Europa League and winning the group, or at least finishing runners-up. So without compromising respect for this competition, I don’t really know for sure. But, I’ll find out soon enough,” he continued.

The draw for the round of 16 of the Europa Conference League will be held on Monday (12/13/2021) tomorrow.
