Rio Ferdinand: “I think Davinson Sánchez has exaggerated”

Tottenham Hotspur, with three games less than several rivals, is beginning to approach the top spots in the Premier League. Antonio Conté’s team thrashed Crystal Palace this Sunday on Boxing Day and it was located in the fifth box, near the places to UEFA Champions League.

Davinson Sánchez was the starter and he was the one who generated the expulsion of Wilfried Zaha at 37 minutes when the match was 2-0. The Ivorian won the first yellow at 26 ‘for a kick against the Colombian and 9 minutes later he attacked him without the ball to get the second warning and red card. From that moment on, the match was totally in favor of Spurs, who sealed the score (3-0) in the second half with a goal from Son.

Rio Ferdinand, Zaha’s former Manchester United teammate and current commentator for BT Sport television, spoke about the expulsion and claimed that Davinson “exaggerated” on both fouls. He regretted that the Crystal Palace forward left the game that way.

“Some players need a bit of antagonism, they love that the fans get involved and are against them. Wilf is like that and he really plays better, but today I think Sánchez has exaggerated both situations and unfortunately for the Palace, Wilf received the red card, “said Ferdinand.

Peter Crouch also opinion of the red to Zaha

The former striker from Leeds, Liverpool, Tottenham, among other English teams, He commented that Zaha against Sánchez “was reckless and stupid”. He believes that neither of the two plays should he have acted that way.

“He is the type of player who wants to get involved in this type of confrontation (…) Needs that kind of fire but has gone too far and it went over the mark, “Crouch said.
