NBA market, Lowry-Ball case, the league punishes Miami and Chicago: a choice was removed on the 2nd round

The investigation carried out in recent weeks by the NBA ends against Miami and Chicago, ended up in the eye of the storm following the arrival in the summer – literally a few moments after the start of free agency, as often happens every time the negotiations are officially started – by Kyle Lowry to the Heat and Lonzo Ball to the Bulls. Negotiations that evidently were carried out before the time set by the NBA; rigid in this respect in a world where the concept of tempering it becomes more and more complex to define and circumscribe. In the case of the two deductibles, however the league felt that the evidence gathered was sufficient to indicate the conduct carried out by the teams it was against the rules, so much so that some had also talked about the possible cancellation of trades, penalties at the level of record wins-losses and far more serious penalties from an economic point of view. None of this: in the end came a much lighter punishment which provides for the renunciation by both teams of the choice on the second round of the next Draft. Announcement commented tightly via social media from Miami with a post underlining: “Although we do not agree with the decision taken, we accept what was communicated. It is time to move on and move forward with our season ”.

Lowry-Ball cases: Miami and Chicago risk big

According to what was reported by ESPN, the collaboration by both franchises was “complete and total”, while many in commenting on the news referred to what happened to the Milwaukee Bucks and the Bogdan Bogdanovic case – a restricted free agent owned by the Kings and that the team that became NBA champions had contacted ahead of time, reaching an agreement with him first announced and then – precisely because of the tamperingjumped. Even in that case, the decision taken by the NBA was to remove a choice from Milwaukee on the second round of the 2022 Draft (which at this point will see a total of three fewer calls), even if the Bucks did not add Serbian talent to their roster – as happened instead for Chicago and Miami which will continue to hold tight to both Lonzo Ball and Kyle Lowry. A controversial case therefore that will probably continue to be discussed even after the sanction.
