National Women’s Hockey Teams will make their debut in the EA Sports NHL video game series on the PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles as well as Xbox One and Series X.

The best player in the world, Beaucevilloise Marie-Philip Poulin, will represent Canada as captain. Via social media, the athlete mentioned that representing Canada on the international stage was one of his greatest career achievements. She is delighted that she can now do it virtually too.
The game was officially released last October. The IIHF men’s and junior teams have already been added to it, but an update scheduled for next January will allow play with the women’s national teams.

This is a major breakthrough for women’s hockey in the video game arena. Since 2012, EA Sports offered the possibility of creating a female avatar to join various hockey teams around the world. In 2013, legends Hayley Wickenheiser and Angela Ruggiero entered the game. It took nine more years for the national selections to become fully available.
