Indonesian National team experienced an increase in ranking in the latest FIFA rankings thanks to the slick performance in AFF Cup 2020 (2021).
Based on the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday (23/12), the Indonesian national team rose to rank 164 with 992.31 points. This means that the Indonesian national team has gone up two places from the release of the FIFA rankings last November.
In the previous FIFA ranking release, the Indonesian national team was in position 166. However, an additional 11.13 points from participation until the first leg of the 2020 AFF Cup semifinals made the Garuda team now in a better position than before.
The Indonesian national team is now four places adrift of Singapore, which occupies the 160th position. The Lions will again play against Evan Dimas Darmono and his friends in the second leg after a 1-1 draw in the first meeting, Wednesday (22/12).
Vietnam and Thailand also experienced an increase in the position of the latest FIFA rankings. Vietnam perched on 98th position and Thailand ranked 115th.
Based on the Footy Rankings calculations, the Indonesian national team obtained significant additional points after a 4-1 win over Malaysia in the last match of the group phase. The positive result made the Indonesian national team get an additional 2.73 points.
Meanwhile, a goalless draw against Vietnam in the third match made the Indonesian national team get an additional 1.01 points. The Indonesian National Team’s point acquisition has the potential to continue to increase if it is able to achieve good results until the 2020 AFF Cup final.
The Indonesian national team itself achieved good results in the group phase with three wins and one draw. The Garuda team is now getting closer to the final which can be realized if they can beat Singapore in the second leg of the 2020 AFF Cup semifinals, Saturday (25/12).
