Judo: Alain Schmitt “tried to hold back Margaux Pinot who threw herself on him” assures the defense lawyer

“Mr. Schmitt never admitted having struck blows.” Gold medalist last summer at the Tokyo Olympics, judoka Margaux Pinot accuses her companion Alain Schmitt, ex-trainer and former member of the France team, of having abused her. The facts would have taken place during the night of Saturday 27 to Sunday 28 November.

First arrested and then released, Alain Schmitt would have “tried to retain Margaux Pinot who threw himself on him”, assures his lawyer Malik Behloul at the microphone of BFMTV. The accused would have never admitted having struck his partner during his hearings, according to his lawyer. To the accusations of reciprocal violence, Malik Behloul assures that “there was no blow on Mrs. Margaux Pinot”. The lawyer grants however that confusion was noted by the “statements of the police officers taken as interveners who, we know where they come from this sentence, say: yes he recognizes that there was an argument and a fight “.

Wounded, Margaux Pinot had managed to flee and take refuge with a neighbor who had called the police. Alain Schmitt was then arrested around 2:30 am, Sunday, November 28, before being taken into police custody. Suffering from bruises and a broken nose, Margaux Pinot was prescribed ten days of ITT. Summoned to the Bobigny court for immediate appearance, Alain Schmitt was finally acquitted of the facts of domestic violence on his partner. “Not enough evidence” considered the magistrates after a hearing which, according to them, failed to shed light on what really happened at the couple’s home.
