Defensores de Villa Ramallo won their first title in the Lower Divisions in 30 years of uninterrupted participation in the field of the San Nicolás Basketball Association, adding this historic conquest to those they had had in the First local in 2010 and 2011. These joys came through their U-15s, with a giant litter of kids, very well worked for several years by Martín Blanco, their coach; and who spoke with EL NORTE to analyze these achievements of their leaders.
First of all, he said: “They are guys that I took mostly in the first year of Mini. Half of these guys are first-year U-15s and they really had a great year. ” “They are guys with many fundamentals, very intelligent to play basketball,” described Blanco, detailing each of the competitions in which the team intervened throughout 2021.
In this regard, he pointed out: “They achieved the San Jorge tournament with very good rivals in front of various points in the country and with significant absences.” “They knew how to overcome adversity,” he said, “as we had to suffer in Buenos Aires, that we, playing as a club, faced and defeated district teams, losing in the semifinals with Junín, who later lost the final in Mar del Plata for very little. with La Plata ”.
“In the Regional we also finished undefeated and we won against very strong teams from Rosarina, with great games and collecting the recognition of coaches, opponents, leaders and basketball people who were amazed at how they played, because they look like 19-year-old boys”, The DT continued, who at the same time highlighted: “At the premises we crowned something that the club had never achieved in 30 years of presence in the San Nicolás area, losing only one game in all of 2021 and with injured players against Regatas, which we then defeated at the end of the year ”.
For all that he marked, Blanco did not hesitate to confess that for him “it is a constant joy” to see these boys play, about whom he said that “they did not stop evolving, that they train every day, go to the gym and shoot hoops in free times”.
In turn, Blanco said that “his great merit is having met the demands of his coach for several years without lowering his arms and always wanting more.” “It gives a lot of pleasure to see them play,” he stressed, noting that “due to the amount of tools and resources they have, it is much easier for one to develop a game plan.”
Regarding the future, Blanco pointed out: “Although the path is very clear from what they show, I don’t know what fate will bring to these boys.”
However, the coach pointed out that the Ramallan institution “should consider continuing to participate in all tournaments that empower players and create new challenges for them.”
In that sense, he considered that “in a short term, Defensores must play a Federal, because if not the players will choose to seek new horizons and they will go to other clubs for their possibilities.” “In my opinion, several of these guys are going to be too small for a Federal,” said Blanco, marking the play; as each game does on his board.
