Indiana Fever, Atlanta Dream, Washington Mystics, Dallas Wings to participate in televised WNBA 2022 draw lottery

The 2022 WNBA draw lottery will take place on December 19 at 3 pm. Eastern Time by ESPN (The broadcast will be in English), the league announced Thursday.

A 30-minute lottery special will take place between games of a women’s college basketball doubleheader that pairs Baylor vs. Michigan and Louisville vs. UConn.

The four teams in the lottery are the Indiana Fever, the Atlanta Dream, the Washington Mystics and the Dallas Wings. The winner receives the first selection in the 2022 WNBA drawing, to be held in April.

Lottery odds are based on cumulative scores from the two most recent regular seasons (2020 and 2021). With a cumulative mark of 12-42, the Fever will have the greatest number of chances to make the first selection (442 out of 1,000) and at least the third pick is guaranteed.

Atlanta (15-39) will have 276 chances to win the first pick. Washington (21-33) is the third-highest-scoring team with 178. Dallas has 104 chances after getting the 2022 first-round pick from Los Angeles (27-27) in a trade last April.

The order of selection for the remainder of the first round, as well as the second and third rounds, is determined in the reverse order of the teams’ respective regular season scores, based solely on 2021.
