How about playing baseball with the Christmas balls? by Véronique Lavoie – Text message

I am the mother of four cute little girls with eyes sparkling with wacky ideas. A few years ago, on a cold December afternoon, we set out to decorate the house for our family Christmas. Once the activity was over, satisfied with the end result, I sat down at the kitchen table with a good cup of coffee to contemplate the whole of the work. When suddenly, laughter and mischievous cries took me out of my bliss.

– No, the tree! What did I think when I left the Christmas tree for my daughters !?

Suddenly I heard one of them throw at the others:

– How about playing baseball with Christmas balls?

I immediately jumped from my chair to run to the aid of my ornaments. Arrived in the living room, I saw what was left of the magnificent tree. It was a scene worthy of a movie: my two hilarious older siblings had embarked on a game of Grinch-flavored baseball. Before I could intervene, the balls struck by the toy (which served as their bat) had shattered under its impact, causing the promise of a happy holiday season to twirl in shards of glass.

Do you feel like your holiday season is synonymous with baseball? Life as a couple, and presto, a good stroke of the bat! Family, bat! Jobs and finances, blow of the bat! Maybe you have the feeling that your life is shattered when the holidays should be synonymous with joy?

Let us remember this Good News announced by the angel to the shepherds: a savior has been born to us! The messiah came into the world for us and he conquered everything on the cross! It is with this perspective that we should celebrate every Christmas. Jesus is the Savior in each of my trials!

SO … How to stay in peace?

First, I can choose not to be worried.

Second, I ask Jesus to step in and make sure the burden is now on His shoulders and not mine.

Third, army of faith, I thank my Savior for what He will do.

So God promises me that his peace will keep my heart and thoughts in harmony with Jesus.

Don’t worry about anything, but in all circumstances ask God in prayer for what you need, and do it with a grateful heart. And the peace of God, which is beyond anything imaginable, will keep your hearts and your thoughts in communion with Jesus Christ.
Philippians 4.6

I believe that in every chaotic moment that will present itself during these holidays there is a grace, an invaluable gift that can turn fear into peace, sadness into joy, poverty into wealth, death into life. His name is Jesus, the Savior!

If I could go back to that time when Christmas balls were flying all over the place, I would definitely change my perspective. Instead of hearing the bursts of destruction, I would choose the bursts of laughter that towered over the rubble.

Today, although I have a lot of fun telling this story, I can assure you that no more Christmas balls come into my house!
