Director Takeshima of Haneda Ambitious will celebrate his 18th year as a director next year
The Pony League (junior high school hardball) powerhouse “Haneda Ambitious” was established in 2004 with a single member, and is now a large family of 74 people. Supporting daily practice are alumni parents and “papa coaches” who work hard to teach. While he is grateful to Nobuyuki Takeshima, who has led the team since its inception, it is said that it is becoming difficult to establish a guidance policy.
The appearance of a daddy coach who started teaching with the joining of a child is a very common sight in youth baseball. Director Takeshima positively views that “the number of children playing baseball will increase due to the influence of their parents.” However, there are many parents who “graduate” when their children go from elementary school to junior high school and from junior high school to high school, which may affect the guidance system.
“In some cases, the team’s policy may be blurred or the guidance may not be inherited.” There is a concern that the coaches will change rapidly and the content and way of thinking will vary. Depending on the team, not only the coach but also the director may be the “daddy”, and the coaching system may be renewed after graduation. There is a possibility that children may be confused, which may lead to a decrease in the number of applicants for joining the group.
