The 30-year-old Account has struggled with a knee injury in recent seasons, leading to a WTA retreat to position 113.

“My career as a player is over and I am very grateful for what it was like, because there was no evidence that I could do much in this profession. But I happily met people who had an impact on my life,” the tennis player said in a statement.

The account is from an Australian Hungarian family with whom she moved to Eastbourne and became a British citizen in 2012.

The tennis player made rapid progress in 2015, reaching his first Grand Slam semi-final the following year and entering the top ten of the rankings. She had her best season in 2017, when she battled for the Wimbledon Championship semifinals, won the prestigious Miami tournament and climbed to fourth place in the WTA rankings.

The following year was not so successful for her, but last year the tennis player reached the semi-finals of the Grand Slam in France, as well as the quarter-finals in Wimbledon and the USA.

During her career, she won four WTA titles. The British tennis player played her last game in August, when Cincinnati lost to the Czech Caroline Muhova in the first match of the “WTA 1000” series tournament.
