Mark Cavendish wins the second stage of the Tour of Hungary

After his victory at the Tour of Colombia in February, Mark Cavendish (Astana Qazaqstan) tasted success again. The 38-year-old Briton won in the sprint ahead of the Dutchman Dylan Groenewegen (Jayco AlUla) and the Spaniard Jon Aberasturi (Euskaltel – Euskadi). Present in today’s breakaway and thanks to the bonus game, the Czech Martin Voltr (Pierre Baguette Cycling) took on the leader’s jersey.

Perfectly led by his team, Cavendish resisted Groenewegen’s comeback just before the finish. Winner on Wednesday after a chaotic sprint, Sam Welsford (Bora – Hansgrohe) cut his effort after contact with the Dutchman.
