Floods in Pamplona | Natacin and Amaya, closed due to serious damage to the facilities

pamplona – Both the Pamplona Swimming Club and the Amaya Sports Club kept the facilities closed yesterday due to the effects caused by the overflowing of the Arga River as it passed through their facilities. Both companies face difficult days in which they will have to assess the damages, fix the damages and contact the insurance.

Sources from the Swimming Club explained this Friday afternoon that “this flood has been greater than that of 2013, since the water level has been higher than that of that year.”

The Natación facilities are located on both banks of the Arga river, and club sources said that those located on the right side had suffered the greatest floods. “The indoor and outdoor swimming pools, the paddle tennis, tennis or football courts, the changing rooms, the ticket office buildings and the green areas have suffered from the flooding of the river,” these sources specified. But, unlike other overflows of the Arga in which the left bank of the Swimming Club hardly suffered the effects of the flood, on this occasion, the water also reached, “up to the sports hall and the fronton”. In the afternoon and with the decrease in the river flow, those in charge of the Swimming Club were able to “make a first assessment of what happened.” They also contacted the insurance. “The City Council sent an alert on Thursday night but at no time did we think it would be of this magnitude,” they specified.

On its website, the Amaya Sports Club reported that “because the flooding of the Arga River has significantly affected the facilities, they will remain closed until further notice.” “Now there are days of cleaning, repairing machinery and electrical panels …”, they concluded from the Swimming Club.
