In contrast to Friday’s opening match with Germany (11-0), Lukáš Bauer, the number one debutant of Martin Beneš, took the Czech goal, collecting for the first time in the 3rd minute. The Swiss played the standard situation, Florian Heller found Joel Rüeger on the right and he opened the score.
Filip Forman was able to equalize first and it was not until the time of 6:48 that Marek Beneš, who beat Pascal Meier from the border of the big goal area after a pass by Ondřej Vítovec. In the 12th minute, the Czechs turned the score around Rüeger’s expulsion thanks to a shot by Ondřej Němeček.
Half of the match, Jiří Besta and Adam Delong could have raised, but Pascal Meier intervened. In the 31st minute, Michael Schiess equalized with Manuel Maurer. At the end of the second part, Maurer was able to turn around, but he hit the top bar.
In the third period, Bauer still helped the bar, but the Czechs lost the match at the end. At 57:29, Jan Zaugg turned Christoph Meier’s pass into an open goal. Christoph Meier secured the result during the Czech power play in the empty net 15 seconds before the end, and Maurer did not turn the penalty shoot-out.
