Corona aid: 24.6 million! Ice hockey wins the most

The empty stadiums in Dortmund, Munich and Cologne made the effects of the corona pandemic visible to everyone.

But it is not just the big football clubs that have been and are being threatened in their very existence. The other sports also suffered heavy losses.

Corona aid from the federal government ensured the survival of many of them. The Federal Office of Administration lists the sums that professional clubs have called as compensation for lost ticket sales, among other things. And how much they got! It’s about 111 million euros.

► Ice hockey clubs (33.4 million) applied for the greatest aid, followed by third division soccer teams (25.3 million) and handball players (23.1 million). Behind: basketball (18.7 million) and volleyball (4.3 million).

► The baseball and softball association applied for the least amount of help (48,300 euros). And only received less than a tenth of it.

State aid for sport is to be extended for 2022 and increased to over 200 million euros.

By the way: According to the Bundestag resolution, the clubs of the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga were not allowed to tap into the corona pot because they collect high TV money.
